Annabelle Followed Her Home

A Saugus woman says strange activity began after she viewed the Annabelle doll at Salem’s new Haunted Warren Museum — a flickering flashlight, a cold room, a dead bird behind locked windows, and a radio that only glitched when she was in the car.

Kayla Jackson went to Salem to see Annabelle. Two days later, she says Annabelle came back with her.

Jackson, who lives in Saugus, visited the Haunted Warren Museum on Essex Street, where the Warren family collection — including the original Annabelle doll — is on public display for the first time since 2019. While inside the exhibit, her friend’s flashlight flickered and the room grew noticeably colder. She later posted a TikTok describing what happened after she left.

Two days after the visit, Jackson found a dead bird in her bedroom. The windows were closed and locked. She and her boyfriend initially thought their cat might have brought it in, but every window checked clear.

On a separate night, the car radio glitched while she was riding with a friend. When Jackson got out of the car, the music returned to normal.

Jackson has been careful not to claim she can prove Annabelle caused any of it. Still, the timing and the details were enough for her to share the story online, where it quickly spread. Her mother interpreted the bird as an Italian omen. Her father smudged the house afterward.

The Haunted Warren Museum opened in late August at 259 Essex Street, housing more than 1,000 artifacts from the collection now under the stewardship of Matt Rife and Elton Castee. Annabelle remains one of its central draws. For Jackson, the visit didn’t end when she walked out the door.

Whether the activity was coincidence, residual energy, or something that traveled with her, the story has already done what Annabelle stories tend to do — it left people checking their windows and wondering what might follow them home.
