Disney’s Hexed Is Building a New World of Witches
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ original film Hexed follows a teenage girl and her mother into a realm of witches called Hexe. It opens in theaters November 25.
Disney is building an original witch world from the ground up, and it’s coming to theaters this Thanksgiving.

Hexed follows 16-year-old Billie Doe, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, an impulsive teenager who discovers she has secret magical abilities. Those powers pull her out of suburbia and into Hexe, a vast realm of witches. Her cautious, overprotective mother Alice, voiced by Rashida Jones, ends up along for the journey. Together they uncover long-buried family mysteries that could reshape the world of witches.
The film is directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand, with Josie Trinidad as co-director. The screenplay comes from Disney Animation’s Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller. The voice cast also includes Jodie Foster as the sinister Queen Celeste and Walton Goggins as a reclusive three-eyed magical cat named Beef Roger Crummchuk. A full trailer and new looks at the world of Hexe dropped this past week.
Instead of adapting existing witch lore, the filmmakers created much of Hexe from scratch, including their own approach to how characters cast spells. For a studio that has used witches as villains for decades, Hexed flips the script by putting a young witch and her mother at the center of the story.
It opens exclusively in theaters on November 25, 2026.
