The Next Paranormal Activity Is Going Home

The lights are about to come back on in the house that started it all.

At Blumhouse’s BlumFest panel during New York Comic Con, James Wan confirmed what horror fans have quietly hoped for: the eighth installment of Paranormal Activity will be set inside the same home used in Oren Peli’s original 2007 film. No new address. No new floor plan. The same rooms, the same hallways, the same bedroom where a couple once tried to prove they weren’t alone.

Director Ian Tuason, who wrote and is helming the untitled project, has said he studied the first three films closely and is building this one for longtime fans. Production wrapped over the summer in Toronto under the working title Bavarian. The cast includes Chase Yi, Sonia Mena, and Maya da Costa. Wan is producing alongside Jason Blum and franchise originator Oren Peli, with Paramount distributing.

Plot details remain under wraps. Whether any familiar names from the early films will appear is still unknown. What is known is the choice of location itself — a deliberate return to the roots of a series that began as a low-budget experiment and grew into a nearly $900 million global franchise.

For anyone who still remembers the first time the bedroom door moved on its own, the idea of walking those same rooms again feels both familiar and newly uneasy.

The cameras are coming back. The question is what they’ll catch this time.
